Principal's Corner

Message from Ms. Ferguson

It’s an honor to be serving the community and to be able to collaborate with you to ensure that our students succeed in school and in life. “When schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more,” that’s according to what a report concluded regarding parental involvement in education. Therefore, parent/guardian participation is a vital component that can’t be overlooked. Parents can be involved at Vermont in a variety of ways:

* Volunteer at our Parent Center or our Parking Valet

* Attend/Participate in the following committees: ELAC, SSC and/or LSLC

* Participate in Back to School Night and Open House

* Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences

* Arrange meetings with teachers before school or after school to discuss academic progress or concerns

* Be an active participant at our various Parent Workshops held in the Parent Center

* Attend our various school-wide activities such as: Harvest Festival and Multi-Cultural Fair

I encourage you to communicate often with your child’s teacher, participate in as many functions as you can and to read the Monthly Parent Newsletter that is sent home with pertinent information.
